Selime Katedrali
10.3 km · Selime Cathedral, located at the northern end of Ihlara Valley in Güzelyurt district of Aksaray, is Cappadocia's largest rock-cut monastic complex. Built between the 8th and 11th centuries, this historic site includes a church, chapel, courtyard, and remnants of a caravan route. It served as an important religious center during the Byzantine period, hosting worship and educational activities for Christians in the region. Inside the cathedral, there are frescoes depicting scenes such as the Ascension of Jesus and the Virgin Mary. It was also used as a military base against the Mongols during the Seljuk period.
