Midas'ın Tümülüsü
13.6 km · Midas Mound, located in Polatlı, Ankara, is a significant historical structure found in the ancient Phrygian capital of Gordion. This monumental tomb, approximately 300 meters in diameter and 53 meters high, is known as the second-largest tumulus in Anatolia and dates back to the mid-8th century BC. Inside, there is a burial chamber made of oak logs, considered the oldest surviving wooden architectural structure in the world. Although popularly believed to belong to King Midas, excavations suggest the tomb most likely belongs to his father, King Gordios. The tumulus is within 88 meters walking distance of the Gordion Museum, and some of the artifacts unearthed from the burial chamber are displayed in the Gordion Museum, while the majority are in the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations.
