Temple of Zeus Lepsinos at Euromus

17 m · The Temple in Milas is an ancient historic site, located within walking distance of Euromos (25 m) and the Temple of Zeus Lepsinos at Euromus (17 m). The Temple of Zeus at Euromos is considered one of the best-preserved ancient temples in Anatolia, dating from the 2nd century CE. It was built in the Corinthian order, and sixteen of its columns remain standing. Excavations at Euromos resumed in 2011, and in 2021, two 2,500-year-old marble statues and inscriptions were discovered.

This structure, one of Milas's symbols, was built in the mid-2nd century AD and is thought to have been constructed for a high-ranking official or commander of Milas and their family. It is considered a small replica of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus due to its architectural features and consists of three sections: the burial chamber, the colonnaded middle floor for religious ceremonies, and the pyramidal roof. The monument was temporarily closed to visitors due to landscaping and museum construction that began in 2017.
