It was commissioned by Ottoman statesman and Defterdar Ekmekcioğlu Ahmed Pasha in honour of Sultan Ahmed I, on the site of the earlier and smaller Ayşe Kadın Caravanserai. It is locally also called Küpeli Han, because of a design feature on the entrance, and Deve Hanı because the gates were tall enough to admit camels.

734 m · Koyun Baba Tomb, located in Edirne Merkez, is a historic site dedicated to Koyun Baba, who was affiliated with the Naqshbandi order. The rectangular-plan tomb contains three marble sarcophagi and has a well in its garden. According to its inscription, the tomb was repaired after Koyun Baba appeared to Sultan Mahmud II in a dream. The tomb is within walking distance of Alipaşa Çarşısı (701 m), Zehr-i Mar Camii (739 m), and Ekmekçizade Kervansarayı (299 m).
