Pessinus
17.2 km · Pessinus Ancient City, located in Ballıhisar village within the Sivrihisar district of Eskişehir, is a historic site featuring remains from the Phrygian, Persian, and Roman periods. The ancient city is particularly known as a significant center for the cult of the mother goddess Cybele and includes ruins of a theater, temple, and a Roman water system. Excavations began in 1967 by Ghent University in Belgium and have continued intermittently.
