It is part of the Kırkçeşme Water Facilities, which were built by Mimar Sinan between 1554 and 1564 under the command of Suleiman the Magnificent. Although historical texts mention a water reservoir and a small pavilion on the upper part of the aqueduct, this pavilion has not survived to the present day.
