Maçka Silahhanesi
185 m · Maçka Silahhanesi is a military structure located in the Maçka district of Istanbul, built by Sultan Abdülaziz between 1873 and 1875. In the last periods of the Ottoman Empire, great effort was made to modernize weapons and equipment within the scope of reform studies in the military field. Maçka Silahhanesi, built for the storage of a large number of Martini-Henry rifles imported from America for the use of the infantry class, by the order given personally by Sultan Abdülaziz, was allocated to Istanbul Technical University (İTÜ) in 1955. The building, which is the main building of the Maçka Campus, housing the Faculty of Business Administration, the State Conservatory, and the School of Foreign Languages, is used as the School of Foreign Languages.
