The MSGSÜ Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture is Turkey's first and most comprehensive museum of plastic arts. Its collections span Turkish art history from the late 19th century Ottoman period to the end of the 20th century. The museum was established on September 20, 1937, by Atatürk's order in the Crown Prince's Office of Dolmabahçe Palace and is currently affiliated with Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University. The museum is located in Beyoğlu, 340 meters from the Tophane tram stop. Other notable places within walking distance include the Museum of Innocence (536 m) and Istanbul Modern Art Museum (210 m).
