#1 of 1651 places in Istanbul

The Sultan's Pavilion (Padişah Mahfili) is a historic section within the New Mosque (Yeni Cami) in Fatih, Istanbul. Construction of the New Mosque began in 1597 under the order of Safiye Sultan, wife of Sultan Murad III, and was completed in 1665 by Turhan Hatice Sultan, mother of Sultan Mehmed IV. This pavilion served as a private prayer area for the sultan and his retinue, featuring ornate tile panels and mother-of-pearl inlaid doors and window frames. It is located 143 meters from the Spice Bazaar and 680 meters from the Grand Bazaar, with the Eminönü tram stop just 72 meters away.
