It takes its name from Rumeli Feneri, which also gave its name to the village right next to it. The castle is reached by road, passing through the village of Rumelifeneri, which is connected to the Sarıyer district. The history of the lighthouse that gives its name to the village dates back a long time; it is known that fires were lit from ancient times to guide sailors at the entrance of the Bosphorus.
