Istiklâl Caddesi
205 m · Istiklal Caddesi is a 1.4-kilometer-long pedestrian street in the Beyoğlu district of Istanbul, and one of the city's most famous avenues. Historically known as Cadde-i Kebir and Grand Rue de Péra, it was renamed Istiklal (Independence) after the declaration of the Republic in 1923. The avenue is lined with shops, art galleries, cinemas, theaters, cafes, and historical buildings. It is within walking distance of Taksim Square (546 m), the Museum of Innocence (420 m), and Taksim Gezi Park (736 m). The nearest public transport is the Hüseyin Ağa Camii tram stop (52 m).
