Fairy chimneys
1.4 km · Located in Avanos, Cappadocia, fairy chimneys are natural rock formations created millions of years ago by volcanic eruptions and shaped by wind and water erosion. These unique structures form when soft volcanic tuff is protected by a harder cap of basalt or andesite. They are a defining feature of the region and can be seen in areas like Paşabağ (Monks Valley) and Red Valley.
