Tuz Gölü
24.9 km · Tuz Gölü, or Salt Lake, is a large saline lake located in Turkey's Central Anatolia Region, at the intersection of Ankara, Konya, and Aksaray provinces. It is the second-largest lake in Turkey and supplies a significant portion of the country's salt. The lake and its surroundings were declared a special protected area in 2001, serving as an important breeding ground for flamingos and white-fronted geese. Tuz Gölü is notable for its vast white salt flats that appear as the water evaporates in summer, and its water can turn pink due to Dunaliella salina algae during certain periods.
