Sarı Saltuk Türbesi
The Sarı Saltuk Tomb in İznik is located outside the Lefke Gate. The exact construction date of the structure is unknown, but it is thought to date back to the late 14th century. The tomb has a square plan, is covered with a dome on pendentives, and was restored by the General Directorate of Foundations in 1963. Sarı Saltuk is believed to be a legendary dervish who played an important role in the spread of Islam in Anatolia and the Balkans, and his tomb in İznik is one of his most famous, as it is rumored to have led to the conversion of its people to Islam in the 13th century.
