10.7 km · Girharrin Mound is a mound located 11 km south-southeast of Mardin city center, immediately west of the Mardin - Nusaybin highway, in the middle of Ortaköy Village, formerly known as Girharrin. It is mentioned as Gülharrin in some sources. The mound, including its terraces, is 400 x 300 meters in size and 40 meters high. Located in the Navala Kutte Valley and on the west side of the Riji Stream, the mound provides a natural passage in the northeast direction of this valley. It is known that the main trade route, extending to Kültepe Karum during the Assyrian Trade Colonies Age and known as the King's Road, passed through the settlement. It is suggested that Girharrin, the old name of the mound and the village, is based on the words gir (hill) and harrin (road). On the other hand, it is thought that this is the city whose name appears as Huzirina in Assyrian documents.
