Dalyan Kaunos Kaya Mezarları

Dalyan Kaunos Rock Tombs, located in Çandır Mahallesi of Köyceğiz district in Muğla, are an important part of the ancient city of Kaunos. These rock tombs have a history of approximately 2400 years and are notable for their temple-fronted architecture. According to ancient beliefs, the higher the tombs were, the closer the deceased would be to god. Some of the tombs remain unfinished, believed to be due to Persian or Alexander the Great's invasions.
