Historic Sites in Nevşehir

Kaymakli underground city is contained within the citadel of Kaymakli in Nevşehir Province, in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey. First opened to tourists in 1964, the village is about 19 km from Nevşehir, on the Nevşehir-Niğde road.

It is a castle formed by steep rocks with natural formations on a high hill 6 km away from the central district.

Nevşehir Castle is a historic castle in the city of Nevşehir, overlooking the underground city of Kayaşehir. It was a fortress for defensive, military purposes.

Uçhisar, located in the Nevşehir Merkez district of Cappadocia, is the highest point in the region and has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1985. This historic site is known for Uçhisar Castle, a massive 60-meter-high rock formation. The castle served as a strategic defense and surveillance point during the Byzantine and Ottoman eras, containing numerous carved passages and rooms. Uçhisar Castle is within 239 meters walking distance.

Çarıklı Kilise Yemekhanesi is a historic site located within the Göreme Open Air Museum in Cappadocia. This rock-cut church, dating from the late 12th to early 13th century, features well-preserved frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Jesus and the hospitality of Abraham. The refectory itself is notable for its long, narrow table carved into the rock with seating around it. Çarıklı Kilise Yemekhanesi is within walking distance of Göreme Open Air Museum (77 m) and Karanlık Kilise (17 m).
