Kinet Höyük
21.9 km · Kinet Höyük is a mound located 30 km north of İskenderun, northwest of Dörtyol district, 500 meters inland from the coast of İskenderun Bay. The mound, 26 meters high from the ground, spreads over an area of 33 decares. The settlement was inhabited from the Late Neolithic Age to the Hellenistic Period, between 5,000-50 BC. It is considered the largest ancient settlement in Cilicia. It had two harbors, one in the bay to its east and one in the estuary of Deliçay (Pinarus) Stream to its south. The İssos Plain, where the mound is located, is the easternmost edge of Ancient Cilicia. It is stated that the ancient name of the settlement was İssos. It is the mound where the first Neolithic settlement was seen within the borders of today's Hatay province, Dörtyol district.
