Latmos Antik Kenti
Latmos Ancient City, located on the shores of Lake Bafa in the Milas district of Aydın, is an ancient Carian settlement. Known as Latmos in antiquity, the city was renamed Herakleia after its conquest by Mausolos in the 4th century BC. The city contains significant Hellenistic and Roman remains, including the Temple of Athena, the agora, a theater, and the Endymion sanctuary. During the Byzantine period, it became an important center for Christian hermits, with numerous monasteries and rock-cut chapels built in the area.
