Historic Sites in Cizre

Cizre Castle is a castle in ruins today, located in Cizre, in Turkey's Şırnak province. The structure, situated on the banks of the Tigris, consists of two parts: inner and outer. Two-thirds of its walls have been completely destroyed, and some of the stones from the outer facade of the remaining southern section of the castle were removed and used in house construction, so there is no integrity.

Abdaliye Madrasa, located in Cizre, Şırnak, was built in 1437 by Emir Abdal (Abdullah) Ibn Abdillah Seyfettin Bohti. The madrasa is also known locally as Mir Abdal Mosque. The surviving parts of the structure include a mosque, a tomb, a madrasa cell, an entrance unit providing access to the courtyard, and an iwan. The madrasa is also known as the setting for the love story of Mem and Zin, and its tomb contains the graves of Mem, Zin, and Bekir. It is within 397 meters walking distance of Kırmızı Medrese.
