Internet, eSIM and phones
Staying connected from the moment you land.
eSIM: the easiest option
If your phone supports eSIM, a travel eSIM for Turkey can be installed before you fly and works as soon as you land — no shop visit needed. It covers mobile data for maps, translation and taxi apps.
Local SIM cards
Turkcell, Vodafone and Türk Telekom sell tourist lines in their stores and at airports; bring your passport. A phone bought abroad can use a Turkish SIM card for up to 120 days; after that it has to be registered, which is only worth it for long stays.
Wi-Fi
Hotels, cafés, restaurants and airports almost always offer free Wi-Fi — just ask for the password (şifre).
Handy apps
- Maps: Google Maps or Apple Maps for walking and public transport; Yandex Maps is popular for driving.
- Taxis: BiTaksi or Uber.
- Translation: a camera translation app helps with menus and signs.
- Food delivery: Yemeksepeti, Getir or Trendyol Yemek.
