Septimius Severus Nymphaeum
7.6 km · The Septimius Severus Nymphaeum is a historic fountain located in the ancient city of Laodikeia, in Pamukkale, Denizli. Uncovered during excavations in 2003, this rectangular-planned structure is situated on Syria Street. The fountain was dedicated to Emperor Septimius Severus, his wife Julia Domna, and their sons Caracalla and Geta, and features decorations such as a statue of Athena in its pool, lion statues, and reliefs of various sea creatures. This nymphaeum in Laodikeia was connected to the hydraulic system that supplied water to the Hadrianic Baths.
