Historic Sites in Hacıbektaş

The Haji Bektash Veli Complex is a Turkish Alevi religious site located in Hacıbektaş, Nevşehir province, central Anatolia. It was built in the 13th century as a teqe of the Sufi saint Haji Bektash Veli. After his death, his mausoleum was built here.

The Atatürk Monument, located in Hacıbektaş district of Nevşehir, is within 128 meters walking distance of Hacı Bektaş-ı Veli Tomb. The monument was erected in memory of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's visit to Hacıbektaş on December 22-23, 1919. Atatürk stayed in Hacıbektaş on his way to Ankara after the Sivas Congress and received support from the Alevi-Bektashi community for the National Struggle. The first monumental sculpture in Hacıbektaş was the Hacı Bektaş Veli Monument, erected in Cumhuriyet Square in 1977.
