About Arasta
The Bergama Arasta began to take shape in the 14th and 15th centuries and hosted various crafts over the centuries. It was formed by the gathering of different guilds such as bootmakers, shoemakers, haberdashers, saddlers, and grocers. Most of the structures that have survived to the present day date from the 19th century, as a major fire in 1853 destroyed older buildings. Arasta is within walking distance of İzmir Bergama Museum (667 m), Pergamon Amphitheater (607 m), and Pergamon gymnasium (793 m).
