About Viran Kapı

Viran Kapı is a historical Roman-era remnant located in Bergama's Atmaca neighborhood. It is an arched section of an ancient theater that remains standing and is also considered the starting point of the sacred road leading to the Asklepion. According to some accounts, an inscription on the gate read, "It is forbidden for death to enter the Asklepion for the sanctity of all gods." İzmir Bergama Museum (675 m), Pergamon Amphitheater (403 m), and Kurşunlu Mosque (460 m) are within walking distance of Viran Kapı.
