About Grave of St. Luke (Ephesus)

This historic site in Selçuk, Aydın, commonly referred to as the Tomb of Saint Luke, is actually a circular fountain dating back to the 2nd century CE. The structure was converted into a church in the 5th or 6th century. It was associated with Saint Luke due to a bull carving at its entrance, though Saint Luke is believed to have died in Thebes, Greece. It is within walking distance of the Celsus Library (684 m), the Temple of Hadrian (567 m), and the Prytaneion (321 m).
